Activision Blizzard has announced that Diablo 4 is their fastest-selling game of all time. This was an internal record that was previously held by the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands expansion when it was released back in November 2020 with 3.7 million units sold on its first day on PC. Diablo 4 was released on multiple platforms which undoubtedly helped boost its sales to a broader audience.

While no specific sales figures were given, Blizzard did reveal that since the four days of early access that started on June 1, Diablo 4 has been played for a whopping 93 million hours, or over 10,000 years — this is equal to playing the game 24 hours a day since human civilization started. Given the quality of the game so far, I don’t blame gamers for putting in so many hours. I’m one of the contributors myself to those insane numbers.
“This is a moment years in the making for the Diablo IV team,” said Rod Fergusson, general manager of Diablo. “Since the game was first announced in 2019, the support from millions of players around the world drove us toward this release of our dark vision of Sanctuary. Hail Lilith, Blessed Mother.”
After finishing the main campaign of Diablo 4, you can still keep yourself busy with the robust endgame which is one of the most comprehensive systems that has ever been released in a live service game on day one.
In the future, you can look forward to the upcoming seasonal content as well as two major expansions. There’s a lot in store for Diablo 4 fans and I can only imagine that the hours played will continue to rise. There’s a reason it’s called “Demon Hours.”
Diablo IV features cross-platform play and cross-progression on Windows® PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, plus up to four-player co-op, including two-player couch co-op on consoles.
