At the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, the long-awaited Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake has been announced.
The reveal came via a CG trailer which started with various animals and ends with a shot of the iconic Naked Snake before he became Big Boss. While it was a surprise to some, this remake has been leaked over the past few days, so its reveal was expected by many.
While no gameplay was revealed, the trailer will no doubt elicit strong reactions from fans. And in case you haven’t yet, you can watch the trailer here:
Based on the trailer’s lack of “A Hideo Kojima Game” mention, it’s likely that this remake will not feature the involvement of Kojima. This should come as no surprise given Konami and Kojima’s issues years ago.
Along with the Snake Eater remake, The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1 has also been revealed, and it is a compilation of Metal Gear Solid 1-3. It’s likely that Volume 2 will also be revealed in the future, possibly featuring Metal Gear Solid 4, 5, and Peace Walker.
Right now, there’s no word yet on a release date for the Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake. Given that there’s no gameplay yet, its release will likely be a year or more away.
Meanwhile, the Master Collection’s first volume will be released in Autumn 2023.
